In Camargue, in the Rhône delta in France, the Greater Flamingo is present all year round. I went exploring in winter 2019-2020 this wetland area bordering the Mediterranean Sea to observe the behavior of this great wading bird, its aesthetics, its courtship displays and to document its relationship with the environment and the men living here. In winter, Flamingos gather in a large colony in order to make their displays and find a partner. It is the best season to observe them up close. It is also at this time of year that they are the most beautiful with a pronounced pink plumage. I went to several places in Camargue, but the best location for observation remains the Ornithological Park of Pont de Gau. Gathered in large groups in the marshes, the birds provoke a painting of colors and patterns fascinating to observe.
