Well, there it is. My four months as a housekeeper at the Lakeview Holiday Park in Te Anau are over. I cleaned my room and re-done my luggage (too much by the way). Barbecue tonight with the team members and tomorrow morning I leave the park. It’s time to leave.
During travel, when we stay for too long in one place, we no longer realizes how lucky we are to travel and the beauty of the landscape that surrounds us. Everything becomes acquired and the wonder disappears. I do not know if this is the case for everyone, but that’s what I felt, especially during January, my last month of work. I do not know if this is due to the fact that the weather was very bad most of the time, the atmosphere was a little less good in the work team and a heavy workload, but I had a little trouble appreciating this last month in Te Anau.
Fortunately I’m back on the road for the next two and a half months. Bye bye the worries of everyday, hello adventure! Well I do not go very far tomorrow, since I move into the home of Julie’s parents (the lady of the farm where I worked previously), who live in Te Anau. Yes, I will stay a dozen more days in Te Anau. But I will take advantage of it to go hiking and do activities, in order to erase the bad memories and to keep only the best images of this magnificent place that is Fiordland.
After that, it is the adventure by bike that awaits me. I decided to discover the landscapes of New Zealand by bicycle! What better way to discover a country than cycling? It is practical, inexpensive, healthy, it allows to go almost everywhere and relatively quickly, to be in contact with the nature while being eco-friendly. There’s nothing better ! One chapter ends, another begins. It’s time to turn the page.
